For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.  Ephesians 2:10

Sunday

I'm late in posting.  I was too tired to update last night and bedtime has become a battle ground.  We have given up on naps (though he is tired and clearly needs one) in the hopes that he will be tired enough to go to sleep easily at night.  So far our strategy hasn't worked.  Last night I started a bedtime routine, which seemed to help.  We'll see what tonight holds.

Since yesterday was Sunday, we went to church here in GZ.  It was and English/Mandarin service and from what Mario tells me, it was beautiful.  He says he really enjoyed it.  Personally, I was outside with Moses who was getting his first taste of what it means to be still and quiet when you don't want to.  It took 10 to 15 minutes of tears and struggles, then he looked up at me, I smiled at him, he kissed me and the struggle was over.  He sat quietly on my lap, content to look around us and be still.  At that point, the church was full and we were unable to make it back in to sit with everyone else.  I opened up a chair and sat just out side the door.  If only the other battles would end so quickly.......

We went to a park with our guide later in the afternoon.  I have some pictures of that time and will post them this afternoon.  Today is medical exam day and we will find out if he needs more shots.  Please pray for Moses, the exam can be stressful for the kids and the shots and potential for a chest xray are looming.

Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
New American Standard Bible : 1995 update. 1995 (Jas 1:27). LaHabra, CA: The Lockman Foundation.

Many adoptive parents will quote James 1:27.  I had a conversation with one of my travel mate's friend who came to visit her in Beijing.  She, too, has adopted internationally and quoted this verse, pointing out that we are to visit orphans and widows IN THEIR DISTRESS.

The truth is, when we adopted Moses, his distress became our distress.  We are working through things as best we can.  Please pray that God will give us wisdom to know how to parent him and teach him how to live within a family.  Pray that his heart will no longer be in distress and that he will have peace.......
